Door knobs and lawn care

Kind of a restless night, woke up a couple of times then was up for good at 4:00a. If I can’t sleep, I get up for at least a little while – can’t live through the torture of being wide awake in bed.

So I decided to tackle the door knob project. My wife wanted some new door knobs installed, door handles actually, so it seemed like a good morning to get that done. Changing out a door knob is simple, changing out a dozen is also simple, but tedious. Once that was done, I turned my attention to the lawn as it was in need of a mowing. Aren’t weekends wonderful?

Andrew is having a sleepover at our house with his friend, Ben, tonight. Oh let’s hope that goes well.

My first stretching session today was a little better than yesterday morning, still some moments of sharp pain if I moved the wrong way, or sometimes even if I moved the right way. I soaked my lower back in the tub today, felt pretty limber after that. In the afternoon I watched the recap of this year’s Ironman Triathlon from Hawaii – I believe there are few places more inspirational than a finish line. The telecast introduced viewers to Sara and Leigh Chivers and the most heartbreaking story I have ever come to know. A young family of four became a family of two as both Sara, the mother, and Alfie, the youngest son, just a toddler, maybe a little older, recently passed away due to brain tumours. Sara wrote an unforgettable letter to her boys, knowing she would not be around very long to share in their lives. Sara’s one wish for her husband Leigh was to complete the triathlon, that’s why it was part of the television coverage. It was unbelievably sad and so very inspirational at the same time. To view a video that tells the family story, visit this YouTube link. To read the letter Sara wrote to her boys, visit this link. We’d all do well to follow Sara’s guidance.

Today I had Kashi for breakfast, yes, I said Kashi – all I can say is it better be good for me – it’s a fine mix of twigs and wood chips. For lunch I had a peanut butter sandwich and for supper a hamburger and a few fries in the air fryer.

Looks like the remnants of Hurricane Dorian will keep me from my 2.5 miles tomorrow, but we’ll see.
