7.0 mi. - Last one
Today was the final, "long" training run before the Charlottetown event. Conditions were great, sunshine and light winds, the run wasn't so great. There were a few times during this run I could have stopped, I'd had enough, but there was no quit, all of the required foot strikes were made, overall pace of 10:43.
And the best part, the run was longer than 10 kilometres, earning me a well-deserved cheeseburger! Ten kilometres or longer earns a cheeseburger, ten miles or longer earns a cheeseburger and a milkshake.
I'll do a couple of 2-milers next week and hit the weight-room a couple of times, but nothing too intense. This week is a celebration for completing the training plan, I'm ready to go. When I think about where I am now compared to 6 weeks ago when I struggled to complete one mile at 12:33 pace, I have reason to celebrate. My back isn't where I want it to be, but my heart and lungs are.
Done.
